snah

I slept in 15 minutes more than I should have this morning and decided not to rush down town to try to get in late to an Ethics Review writing workshop that I wasn't actually registered for... so I put my pyjama pants back on and did the online tutorial. I think that's okay. It has been way nicer and way less stressful, so I have no regrets. I've been stressed and falling apart the last two days so online tutorials seemed like the more relaxing option. Today is a busy day and I have a presentation tomorrow. I imagine I'll feel better once that's over.

Life feels overwhelming right now.

New Orchids!

Fancy new "White Faery" orchid that I got yesterday:

Fancy orchid that my dad got:

I think I'm turning into an orchid person.

Dub-Style!

Steve and I had a lovely V-day pub crawl last night. Actually the whole day was lovely. We went to the orchid show with our parents and I got a very pretty "White Faery" orchid that makes me happy! My dad got a really spooky paph orchid that looks like sinister faeries live in it. I'll see if I can find a picture to post on the old blinternet.

After the show Steve and I took a nap and then around 8pm started our pub crawl where we stopped at the Duke, the Rose and Crown, and Dizzy's. We could have done the other side of the road too, but money is an issue and although those mojitos on the other side of the street are freakin' incredible, they also cost $11. Too much.

It was quite lovely though and we had a delicious dinner at Dizzy's which made me happy. It's just so good! It was kind of nice to just go for a walk in the neighbourhood and see what's around. Today I slept in, made Steve and I some pancakes, and then wrote a paper after Steve left for work. Suck on that! I wish I had more fun writing to do.

Tonight I'm going to the parent's house for my dad's birthday dinner and then I have to make a reading plan for reading week because I have a lot of damn reading to do... but I also have a lot of tv on dvd I want to watch. Schedules help.

Excuse I!

IIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT'S READING WEEK! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

This is possibly my last reading week ever so I'm making it count baby! And by that I mean I will likely sleep and get a massage and try to do an ass load of cleaning, organizing and reading so that I feel good about going back to class in a week. Past reading weeks have included struggling my way through (read: taking naps every ten pages) Pride and Prejudice with a sleeping Chihua on my chest, a trip to Cuba... and honestly that's all I remember. Not so many significant reading weeks, but I will miss them when they are gone!

Last night I went to see Coraline with some lovelies from my program. It's the first fancy 3D movie I've ever seen and it was kind of exciting. Though it did make my head ache a little and my eyes feel all dry and funny by the end of the movie. It was a fairly enjoyable experience, but the ghost children were HIGHLY disappointing and rather obnoxious, and Coraline herself is missing something... maybe she's missing a voice other than Dakota Fanning's. I don't know, she's just not quite what I wanted... maybe she's too cute. Anyway, I'm glad I went.

It was especially fun seeing the ten people lined up for the midnight showing of Friday the 13th... that's what's out right? Wait, Friday the 13th is with Freddie and this one is with Jason... So I don't know what's actually out, but those ten men sure did (no ladies in the crowd). I refuse to look it up now. I think it must be something like "Hey Look! I'm Jason", or "Don't Touch My Mask", or "Drab, Drowned, and Pissed Off", or "Camp is for Killing".

I'm sleepy. Who wants to have a tea party over reading week?

Skittly Woah-Oh-Oh!

I'm understanding more and more that I am a giant emotional sponge. I'm okay with that, I just have to make sure that I let all of those people and things that make me happy wring me out every once in awhile. Otherwise I get drippy.

Today is a happy day for lovers of Andy, Jorma, Akiva, as their new cd debuts. I personally can't stop listening to "Are you there Jah it's me Ras Trent". Although I'm happy for their success, it does pull me further away from any possibility of meeting them. I still nurture a secret fantasy of moving to New York and writing for SNL. I doubt it will every happen, but it would be grand! Once I'm done my masters maybe I'll just sit around and write sketches... or plays... or something with a voice. That would be nice.

I'm in week six of semester two right now sliding on in to some sweet sweet reading week. That means I have six weeks and 60 pages separating me and my degree. Fancy. Then I'm going to go hide in the woods for awhile.
